A way of living

Things happened the past weeks. I went to the Woonbeurs Amsterdam, I (finally) got my invitation for the exclusive Vogue party and last but not less important, fall arrived. It's only now that I have found the time and rest to write about it.

So, Woonbeurs Amsterdam. On the 5th of October I visited the event for the third time in a row. My mother (also an interiorfreak) and I consider this to be an annual fest. During a week, the RAI is filled with people who inspire and who want to be inspired. Kaffee Fabrik made sure there was no shortcoming of good coffee. They were responsible for my first cup that morning and their fuel kept me going all day. Besides the huge vtwonen 'barn' that I think surpassed everyone's expectations, and the delicious. stand where they presented an New York salted caramel cheesecake, I was mostly amazed by the ariadne at Home section. They worked their rooms with light colors, earth thones and natural materials. From fig trees to dried flowers. Just the way I like it.

It made me think about my own style. My friends always tell me I am a 'earth thone girl' and I couldn't agree more. When I think about home and feeling yourself at home, I would choose to go back to basic living. The area should be clear and serene. I never really understood the neon trend (in interior and clothing). Objects should not pop out or explode when you enter the room. Instead, you should feel intrigued and seduced to discover more. Be invited to wonder about all the different textures and color combinations (ton sur ton). And yes, I do have a weak spot for things that you may not expect in a 'calm environment'; it goes all the way down south to the meridianol, oriental living. From Morrocan tagine plates to Portuguese floor tiles.

Just give me a light house with earth thones, big windows, wooden materials, a Portuguese floor and a filled, oriental kitchen and I'm a happy woman. See the pictures below to get a small impression of the Woonbeurs.
